“Thai Volunteer” – © chriscondello 2013 – Whitney Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – Basil is one of my favorite herbs… So much so in fact that I grow it as an ornamental… The long slender flower clusters attract beneficial insects like nobodies business…
Occasionally… I accumulate a bunch of photos… Sometimes they get stored away for winter… But I liked enough of these photographs to post them… This is the result of a camera dump from the past week…
I have prints available to purchase here – http://www.society6.com/chriscondello – Or you can contact me directly at c.condello@hotmail.com for commissions or locally/personally produced prints…

“Lemon Dream” – © chriscondello 2013 – Whitney Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – Lemon basil is a favorite among the neighborhood kids… It is one of my favorite basils only losing points due to its intolerance to the basil blights plaguing my neighborhood… But the scent makes it worth the trouble… I grow it along the front walkway… All you have to do is run your hands through it and the entire front yard smells like lemons…

“Accidental Art” – © chriscondello 2013 – Coal Street – Wilkinsburg, PA – The last signs that this house was at one time painted blue… I have walked past this wall well over a thousand times… Only today did I stop for a moment and snap a few photos…

“Fractured” – © chriscondello 2013 – Holland Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – I am attracted to places where nature is winning the fight… Asphalt is a constant in my neighborhood… In fact… Many of the beautiful brick streets that graced our neighborhood ages ago… Are simply covered in pavement…

“Gothic Petunia” – © chriscondello 2013 – Whitney Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – I have always had an attraction to the color black… Though this is my first experience growing black Petunias… All in all they did pretty good… My only complaint would be the flowers look terrible after 24 hours…

“Thai Dragon” – © chriscondello 2013 – Whitney Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – I had no intentions of photographing this basil… Then I got close and noticed what appeared to be a dragon… After reviewing my photographs… I remembered the dragon… And had to show it off…

“Mighty Patch” – © chriscondello 2013 – Coal Street – Wilkinsburg, PA – I like the black on gray contrast of this patch… I have spent so much time this summer observing nature that I often forget about one of the great products of nature… Man…

“Asphalt Island” – © chriscondello 2013 – Holland Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – I have no idea what the contractor that installed this patch was thinking… Asphalt over hundred year old sandstone… About all that is good for is this photo…

“Nasturtium Clinging” – © chriscondello 2013 – Center Street – Wilkinsburg, PA – An interesting note… Even plants that seem to grow down… Are actually trying to grow up as is shown in this photo… Although nasturtium is one of my favorite garden plants… I actually despise the taste of the blossoms…

“Super Tunia” – © chriscondello 2013 – Whitney Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – A common complaint about Calibrachoa is that they look great at the nursery… But when you bring them home they always look bad for a few months… This plant is all about patience as its season doesn’t really start until fall… Then these plants shine…

“Perpetual Puddle” – © chriscondello 2013 – Wagner Way – Wilkinsburg, PA – I often pass this puddle on my travels… Always thought of it as a nuisance… Even considered filling it at one time… Not anymore…

“Really” – © chriscondello 2013 – Coal Street – Wilkinsburg, PA – The contractor in me made me do a double take… But the artist in me grabbed my camera… Cool textures in cool concrete…

“Against the Lemon Grass” – © chriscondello 2013 – Whitney Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – Annually I plant Lemon Grass… I don’t really eat it… I give it away more than anything… I grow it because it is a beautiful ornamental grass…

“South African Dreams” – © chriscondello 2013 – Whitney Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – This past winter I was posting photos of my paintings due to a lack of natural work… Another blogger took an interest in me and offered needed advice and constructive criticism… Not to mention the encouragement I really needed… This photo is for her… Petru… You should check her artwork out on her blog – http://www.pviljoen.wordpress.com/ – I highly recommend it…
