The Glimmer Between – Summer and Fall

“Flower Bomb” – The Entrance to Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – As I was setting up a shot of this concrete bound Blue Aster… A VW Mini Bus slowly crept around the corner right into frame… The driver did not even notice me… I knew right away that this was going to be a good photo day…

“The Glimmer Between Summer and Fall” – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – Each drop was perfect… Placed by the air in the perfect spot… When I got close… I could see myself in each one…

“Aster in the Glow” – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – There is a magical moment that occurs as the Summer begins to flow into Fall… The air begins to take on a dry… Almost spicy scent… The nights become cool… The mornings are damp… Energy is high…

“Swarming Yellow” – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – Stretched above a carpet of native grasses… Swarming with bees… This particular time of year… Is all about yellow… Even the evening sun burns a bright yellow-orange…

“Red Bed Waterfall” – Frick Park – This shelf of shale is slowly wearing away thanks to the small creek that flows through it after rain… The red coloring is a product of the famous Pittsburgh red bed… A red band of clay that runs through the area… Also the reason that most brick made in Pittsburgh were red…

“Burst of Fall” – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – I was watching a massive hawk circle above me… When my head came out of the clouds… I was standing in the middle of a sea of yellow flowers and buzzing bees… So I hung out for a while…

“Dew Clinging” – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – Undisturbed… Drenched… Waiting for the sun to dry it up… I was in the middle of hundreds… If not thousands of these dew kissed grass flowers… Like a gift from the fog… Presented in the dead of night… To be found in the morning…

“Swamp Mallow” – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – A single bloom on a massive plant… Reminded me of the ocean… Reminded me of the past…

“Drenched Web” – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – First thing in the morning… Catching the first rays of sunlight… This spider… And many like it… Are going to be very busy… Rebuilding… Again… Preparing for fall…
