A couple of years ago, my garden and neighborhood were included in a documentary called “In Transition 2.0”. The purpose of this movie is to promote the transition movement around the world. Although I am not personally involved in the movement, I started my first blog on the transitionpgh website and they were more than welcoming of me and my poor grammar skills. Throughout my entire experience dealing with those involved in the movement, I have had nothing but stellar experiences and I hold them, and the movement in the highest of regards..
Interestingly, the movie (in its entirety) has recently become available on youtube. Obviously, you can watch the entire movie. Or, you can skip to my part which starts at exactly 16:00 minutes in. I was unsure of posting this link as this garden is now gone… But… What the hell… I’m considering it promotion for my new project…

First… Thank you… Whitney Avenue Urban Farm was a guerrilla garden located on two vacant lots next to the house that is next door to mine… My girlfriend and I started it a few months before we moved in with the cooperation of a neighbor that has since moved… The new neighbor has a young daughter, and had dreams for the lot that differed from mine… The result of this being me leaving…
I wish I could say that I handled this move like an adult… But I did not… I basically went insane for a year… It was like losing a baby… But given the fact that I did not own the property… Or any property… Anywhere… I really didn’t have any ground to stand on…
As far as getting these things off the ground… It really just started off as a single small garden for personal use… As we were building it the neighborhood kids got curious… And we just never stopped…
This really deserves to be a post… I may start writing that tonight to kick off my new series… Thank you for this inspiration… I hope this answers your question till I can materialize a post…

Wow, Chris! I just viewed your segment of the video. I am impressed! Thank you for your efforts and contributions to the betterment of a small slice of humanity. The woman at the end who shed a tear and said “it’s changed her” – that’s you man! You helped to transform her. How beautiful is that?!

Thanks Eric – You know, I had to watch it so many times when it first came out that I kind of buried it in the back of my head and forgot all about it… I saw it online and watched it again… Decided it was totally worth sharing…
