Composition in Scraps – Primary

Comp2b

“Composition in Scraps – Primary” – Bricks from my garden… River stones from the alley… Dandelions and Buttercups… Blue Flag Iris… Bamboo… Red Twig Dogwood… Apple…

A collaboration of a few of the things I find beautiful… Mere scraps to most… But to me… To me these things all posses as much individual beauty as they do as one composition… They were collected for a reason… They were collected to define a season… They were collected to define me…

Composition in Scraps – Composing Me

EarthDay

“Composition in Scraps” – Whitney Avenue – Wilkinsburg, PA – As the name implies… Scraps from a day at work… It was either this or the garbage can… Almost a self-portrait in a way…

Put me in a group of people… And I crumble…
I stutter… Shake… And ultimately stumble…
Nature is my saving grace… My constant drive…
Put me in the forest and watch me come alive…

Know where I’m going… I’m just not sure how to start…
Looking for my salvation in the form of natural art…
Stop for a moment below a twisted mulberry tree…
Every part of which can heal… From root to canopy…

Shattered glass outlines brick like shiny gemstones…
Naked trees against the sky resemble broken bones…
Moments in time always shape our inner perception…
Shadows in our lives lead to shadows in our reception…

Towering grey clouds rise from the distant horizon…
Thunder rumbles as the afternoon humidity rises…
Towering Maple trees sway as the steady breeze blows…
As this moment progresses my tattered spirit grows…

Right here… Right now… I am among the poorest…
The most I have to offer is some pictures of the forest…
Sitting here watching the sun rise over rotten homes…
Sitting here watching the sunrise… While my soul roams…

I never know where my mind will take me… I never know what I will find… But as long as I slow down and pay attention to the world around me… I always find something beautiful… I always find something grand…

Someday… I will find you…

“Man Made Militia” – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – Installation – Stone Cairns
~
I don’t have access to the scenic vistas or beautiful landscapes that are commonly thought of as “grand”… So I have to make them… Believe it or not… This installation is on the banks of a sewer… Your surroundings are what you make of them… And in my case… I want to make them grand…

The First Rays of Sunlight

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

“Sun Ray” – © chriscondello 2013 – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA

Prints available here – http://society6.com/chriscondello/Sun-Ray-fCJ_Print

I took a walk to Frick Park as the sun was rising… On my journey I spent a few moments watching the sun rise over an old church that was covered in pigeons… I found myself questioning whether God would consider the exorbitant amount of money spent on our places of worship money well spent… Probably not…

When I arrived to my destination the sun had yet to break the trees… As always… I sat for a while and scanned the area for stones… Having been to this spot before… I actually knew exactly where the sun would rise… I carefully chose my starter rock to be situated in front of the sun… Watching the beams of sunlight fall from the sky as the sun rose… Finally landing in all the right spots…

This photo is the result…

Ninety Degree Day in May

IntoThwThroat

“Throat of an Iris” – © chriscondello 2013 – Whitney Avenue – Pittsburgh, PA – An iris large enough for me to stick a camera inside… Enough said…

I will have prints available soon… I promise… I have never been asked for prints of my work… I am not afraid to admit that I have no idea what I am doing as far as that is concerned… Please hang in there… And any suggestions would be welcomed… I am thinking of opening an etsy site… But like I said… This shit is new to me…

BarelyThere

“Almost Fake” – © chriscondello 2013 – Sculpture of Stone – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – This stack is taller than me at around 6’… A woman on the trail told me it looked fake… Then she corrected herself… Almost fake…

R-Room

“Forget-Me-Not” – © chriscondello 2013 – Hamnett Way – Wilkinsburg, PA – Growing in the ruins of an old garage… Roofless… And only two walls remaining… Forget-Me-Nots growing through the concrete floor say it all…

DoubleStack

“Bench View” – © chriscondello 2013 – Sculpture of Stone” – As I spend more time in Frick Park… I’m getting a little less shy… This stack was placed across from a bench on the banks of Nine Mile Run… A few people stopped and watched… But I didn’t freak out… In fact… I was able to completely zone them out…

Golden2

“Framed” – © chriscondello 2013 – Golden Alexander – Zizia aurea – Frick Park – Pittsburgh, PA – This was originally only intended to be included in my personal library of wildflower photographs… I noticed the framing effect of the trees on my camera screen… Readjusted… And came up with this shot…
